Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating strikes in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Russian aerial assaults have caused blackouts in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were hurt while local people in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and dealt with disruption to water systems, according to city officials.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a different assault in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, as reported by area administrators.

Moscow has increased attacks on power infrastructure over the past few days, while officials has called for "real steps" from allies to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not window dressing but strong steps - from the United States, Europe and the Group of Seven - in providing air defence systems and implementing restrictions," mentioned in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen projectiles attacked the country's power systems, characterizing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were laboring to fix the damage.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and government agencies were preparing for more assaults.
